I Ching and 2012 - A Chinese Prophecy For A 2012 End Of Days?
What does the I Ching and 2012 have in common? The I Ching (pronounced: yee jing) or translated Book of Changes (or Book of Change) dates back to the earliest of recorded Chinese Kings. It dates back as far as 2700 B.C.E. and has had contributions by several significant "thinkers" throughout its history. This is a book of prophecy and is treated much like an oracle that provides answers to deep (and not so deep) questions.
I could probably spend several days typing away discussing the I Ching. In fact, I will add a few more thoughts at the end of the page dedicated specifically to the I Ching (but not necessarily related to I Ching and 2012 - remember I can get long winded!!!). What I needed to discuss here is the attribution of how the I Ching also "agrees" with the Myan prediction of the 2012 Apocalypse. First I need to make a brief introduction into the Book of Change. Methods can vary but the basic idea is to use either divining sticks or coins to allow one to fashion a group of lines together. It seems that the coin method is easiest to discuss so I will use it here. (Actually, the method does not matter...just the end result matters). To consult the book of changes one would use three coins. Tossing them, one would see either a majority of tales or heads as the result. A majority of tales would be a solid line, majority of heads would be a broken line. This process would be repeated six times and each line would be drawn on top of each other. At the end of this process one would have a stack of 6 lines, each one either broken or solid. This stack of six lines is called a "hexagram". It turns out that in a stack of six lines where there is only two choices, either broken or solid, there are a total of 64 possibilities. Further, each of the 64 hexagrams have been named and have had attributes assigned to them. Once you have your hexagram you would then consult the I Ching and read the appropriate text. The reading will bring insights towards the question you posed while consulting and will bring you enlightenment. While this may all seem a bit mystical to you I will submit that one of the largest populations of the world consult these texts with significant regularity...and it is a text that has lasted as long as any other of the earliest records we have as humans. OK, so that was a BRIEF intro to I Ching, but how does it relate to the 2012 end of days predictions? Well, it is not that simple, but explainable! Each of the hexagrams has a characteristic attributed to it. They are all specifically named and appear in a specific order. This order and attribution has been in place for THOUSANDS of years. I Ching and 2012 explained:
In the 70's a researcher took an idea of plotting these 64 hexagrams as a function of change from one to the next. The more the next one was different from the previous the higher the assigned value, the more alike two consecutive ones were the lower the value. The original researchers took this to the next level when they graphed this over time, starting with the first hexagram back when the texts were attributed to have originated. They related the I Ching and 2012 in a way never seen before. Extending this graph over time has shown some significant alignments with the highs and lows. Some include a high corresponding to the discovery of the "new world" and lows associated with the fall of Rome and the world wars. Surprisingly the authors of this theme were supposedly unaware of the Mayan predictions of an end of times at 2012...but their graphs not only ended in a low...BUT ALSO LATE IN 2012!!!! Now, this relating of the I Ching and 2012 is very interesting to me because I have spent more time digging into philosophy than your average person and the I Ching is definitely an extremely interesting topic for me, but I am also very well versed in mathematics and I can see the patterns identified in this theory very well. You can certainly go down below and read my discussions on the I Ching, its meanings and how they can apply to you, but I think the most applicable portions of this topic are that in a not so complicated way this book has shown us something to look forward to for centuries. Be Good! Curt

Not withstanding the I Ching and 2012 scenario, the I Ching is EXTREMELY intersting to me. I will explain the hexagrams...this is where Jason says I am long winded...I'll let you decide!!! Look for it on future web pages in the very near future.
